SOS’s October

October being Diaper Awareness month, Diego Robbins had joined the Texas Diaper Bank campaign to raise one million diapers. With the help of a fellow SOS members, Diana Esparza, they worked to get things ready for the drive by making posters and collection jars and getting everyone involved in such a great cause. At the end, he collected 3,153 diapers and $701.27 dollars! What an amazing turnout! Desiree De La Cruz and Jesus Flores from Thomas Jefferson HS organized an entire benefit concert to help the diaper drive! Due to their amazing efforts, Diego, Desiree and Jesus were all invited to be special guests at the Benefit Gala for the Diaper Bank.

On behalf of the Texas Diaper Bank, a couple of SOS members volunteered at the Almouie Pediatrics Outreach Event on October 3rd!

Once again, SOS volunteered at the Texas Diaper Bank to package diapers on October 17th! Great work!

July Build-a-Bag and Community Gardening

On July 18th, SOS had an amazing opportunity to work with a local foster care organization called Helping Hands Ministry. SOS decorated and created Sweet Case Bags that contained some goodies for children in our community.

Here we have SOSers volunteering to help out Green Spaces Alliances with their garden on a beautiful day! Great work!

The SOS family came together to support each other at Tacos N’ Salsa on the night of July 20th! Special thanks to our wonderful guest from Korea, Mare Weston Stewart!

SOS Learning About Japan and Volunteering in June

On June 19th, SOS attended the “Walk in U.S., Talk on Japan” event organized by the Japanese government. SOSers had the opportunity to hear former Mayor Henry Cisneros, former Ambassador Yasuo Saito and several other guests to speak about U.S.-Japan relations.

On June 20th, 30 SOSers worked incredibly hard to help out at the Texas Diaper Bank!
